Since the founding of AskMeWhy in 2012, we have been developing SharePoint provisioning solutions for standardized workspaces and efficient collaboration. In 2015, we transferred this experience into our product Seamless – at that time a scalable project platform for SharePoint Online, particularly for engineering and consulting companies.
Importance of Clear Structures in Digital Workspaces
It quickly became clear that digital collaboration only works sustainably when processes and responsibilities are defined across the entire lifecycle of digital workspaces and when these policies are enforced automatically. Without these foundations, digital environments quickly become difficult to manage.
Evolution of the Microsoft 365 Landscape
Over the past ten years, Microsoft 365 has evolved significantly. Collaboration in Microsoft Teams – including with external guests – is now standard. What has changed little, however, is that many organizations still try to manage increasing complexity using rules, processes, scripts, and manual oversight.
Limitations of Traditional Governance Approaches
Our experience from numerous customer projects shows that this approach is no longer effective. Governance must be integrated into the regular workflow and must not exist as a separate process. Only then can structured, consistent, and long-term stable Microsoft 365 environments be ensured.
End of the SharePoint Add‑In Model
Another reason for adjusting Seamless is the announced retirement of the SharePoint Add‑In model. For many years, this model formed the technical foundation of many of our solutions. Its deprecation required a fundamental technical realignment.
Complete Redevelopment of Seamless
The combination of technological changes and the goal of providing existing customers with familiar functionality while supporting modern collaboration capabilities led to a complete redevelopment of Seamless. The result is a modern, cloud-native collaboration suite for:
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft 365 Groups
- SharePoint
- external guests
The aim is consistent, automated, and user-oriented management of digital workspaces.
